Check out this German WW2 newsreel about the Battle of Stalingrad which took place from August 23, 1942 until February 2, 1943. This newsreel shows the early part of the battle at which time the German army was making gains in and around the city. However, by November 20, 1942 the Germans were surrounded by the Russians and they slowly started to loose fuel, food, ammo, and other supplies.
